2023 K9 TOSS & FETCH WORLDWIDE CHAMPIONSHIP & UpDOG TRIPLE CROWN

On September 9 & 10, 2023, the Houston Canine Frisbee Disc Club (HCFDC) will be a regional host for the 5th Annual K9 Frisbee Toss & Fetch Worldwide Championship and UpDog Challenge Triple Crown disc dog competitions. It will be a weekend of fun, celebrating the amazing bond between humans and canines.

We are excited to be a part of a global phenomenon where over 1,500 Toss & Fetch League competitors and their dogs, from 200 clubs, globally, are eligible to compete simultaneously (in their time zone) on the same day to crown one team as the global toss & fetch champions.

The event will be held at Swanny’s Bar & Grill located at 6224 Theall Road, Houston, Texas. It is a family-friendly event with top handler and canine competitors.

For the K9 Frisbee Toss & Fetch Worldwide Championship, competitors are eligible if they competed in 3 weeks of one league season from Winter 2022, Summer Down Under 2023, March 90:/5 2023, Spring 60:/5 2023, June 90:/5 2023 or Summer 2023. Handler divisions are based on average points in two rounds of play. Competitors will have 3 rounds of 60 second toss and fetch in the Worldwide Championship. For more information on K9 Toss & Fetch, please check out their website (link).

There are no pre-registration qualifying requirements for competitors to be eligible for the UpDog Challenge Triple Crown games. The 3 games to be played are 4Way Play, Throw N Go, and Time Warp. Mulligans are not allowed.

For more information on the games, please check out UpDog’s website.

Below are the criteria set forth for determining your division for this year’s Triple Crown. If you and your best dog usually score within the points listed below in 2 out of the 3 games you should enter that corresponding division with all of your dogs. One human should only be in one division, not multiple divisions.

Example: Terry and Fido usually score around 25 in Four Way Play and 30 in Time Warp. Terry and Fido would enter the Intermediate division.

For those of you familiar with the team site and the stats pages essentially these thresholds are roughly based on the percentile ranks from the Team site. Expert Division is around the 90th percentile and up, Intermediate is between the 50th percentile to the 89th percentile and Novice is below the 50th percentile.

To see where your scores fall on the percentile rank or to refresh your memory on what you’ve scored recently just view your profile for your team and scroll down to the results listed by event. Use this to get an idea where you land for your last several rounds of each game and enter the appropriate division.

Expert
Four Way Play 28 and up
Throw N Go – 41 and up
Time Warp – 68 and up

Intermediate
Four Way Play 17-27
Throw N Go – 23-40
Time Warp – 27-68

Novice
Four Way Play 16 or below
Throw N Go – 22 or below
Time Warp – 27 and below

Youth (youth may opt to enter a higher division if they choose)
Age 15 or below as of 9/12/2023

UpDog will offer cumulative awards (based on all 3 games against all competitors worldwide) for the top teams competing in 4 divisions (Expert, Intermediate, Novice, Youth). We will award the top 10 in any division with 80 entries or more. A minimum of the top 10% will be awarded in divisions with less than 50 entries. These will be mailed out after the event.

Handlers are allowed to register up to three canine teammates and registration will be open to the first 50 canine competitors entered. There will be walk-up registration on the day of competition.

Thank you to all who registered for the 2023 Worldwide Championship & Triple Crown. Registration is now closed. See you this weekend!
