2024 Bark in the Dark

The Houston Canine Disc Club is excited to host a Skyhoundz DiscDogathon 2025 World Qualifier on October 26, 2024, and an UpDog Challenge event on October 27, 2024. The event will be held at Swanny’s Bar & Grill located at 6224 Theall Road, Houston, Texas. It is a family-friendly event with top handler and canine competitors all coming to enjoy the Halloween festivities.

Saturday’s Skyhoundz games will include 5 games – Bullseye, Freestyle, Pairs D/A, Spot landing, and Time Trial with two world qualifying levels – normal and micro. Saturday evening there is a Howloween Canine Costume Contest, a handler Fidget competition, and tent decorating competition.  Sunday’s UpDog Challenge will include 4 games – Boom, Performance Freestyle, Greedy, and Spaced Out.

Registration the 2024 Bark in the Dark event is closed. Good luck to all the competitors.

There will be no on-site day-of-competition registration due to the current COVID-19 pandemic with the exception of Intermediate, Novice and Junior handlers.

The field will open for tent set-up on Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. The administration tent will be open at 8:00 a.m. and players’ meeting will be scheduled for 8:30 a.m.

Competitors are allowed to decorate their tents in Halloween themes. We will be handing out awards on Saturday and Sunday for best decorated tents. We ask that all decorations stay inside or behind your tents and do not extend towards the playing field.  As a reminder, after the Skyhoundz games on Saturday all competitors are invited to participate in a handlers-only competition: fidget spinning. It is a free competition and afterwards we will have the canine costume contest and then awards.

Running orders and schedules of events will published on the club’s Facebook page in the afternoon on Friday, October 25, 2024.
