Frequently Asked Questions

What music format(s) do you accept? We accept CDs and cell phones for freestyle music.  If your phone requires a special adapter besides a regular audio jack, please bring that with you.

Where can I set up my tent for the competition? You will be able to set up your tents on three sides of the field.  We will designate the side closest to the sand volleyball pits as a spectator area, complete with bleachers.  Do not set up your tents on this side of the field.

Will there be enough parking for competitors? Get there early to get your parking spot.  We will have a loading zone designated for dropping off tents, crates, and competition gear.  We ask that you do not park in the loading zone.  Once your stuff is dropped off, please move your vehicle to an open parking spot.

Will there be dollies available for transporting gear to the field? We will have dollies available to help transport your gear to the field.  Once you are finished with the dollie, please return it to the loading zone so that others may use it too.

Where can I park my RV? We ask that RVs do not take up the car spaces in the parking lot as parking spaces will be at a premium.  We have seen RVs park safely in the grassy median between the parking lot and Theall Road so we ask that you park your RV there, please.  If necessary, there is overflow parking at the businesses across the street.  See the field map for more details.

When can I set up my tent? Tent set-up can start on Friday afternoon, after 5:30 p.m. If Swanny’s has another event on Friday, then we ask that you respect the other patrons of Swanny’s and wait until those patrons are finished with the field.  We will have the field painted before 5 p.m. so you will be able to see where it is ok to put up your tent.   HCFDC and Swanny’s are not responsible for your tent should you set it up early and leave anything under it.

Can I work my dogs out of my vehicle? That is totally at the discretion of the competitors.  The parking lot is close enough to the field that it is possible to work your dogs from your vehicle.  For the Quadruped, that may be a little more difficult given the distance from the parking lot to the field.

What if there is adverse weather? HCFDC is constantly monitoring the weather and will provide timely updates regarding any postponements or cancellations.  These updates will be posted on the club’s Facebook page and/or the Facebook event page. In the event of extreme heat, HCFDC will provide cooling pools for the canine competitors. Competitors routinely run their dogs from their vehicles and utilize vehicle air conditioning to keep them cool.

Can I bring in my own food and drink? Swanny’s Grill is a full service restaurant.  No outside food or beverages allowed on the premises per Texas State law. As Swanny’s is a full service restaurant, please be respectful of other patrons at the establishment.   If you do decide to order food and beverages from Swanny’s, you are responsible for your own tabs.  Please make sure to settle your tab at the end of each day.

Will we compete if it rains? We will constantly be watching the radar and assessing the weather conditions.  If it is a mild rain shower, then we may continue playing through the rain.  However, should the weather conditions worsen, then there may be a rain delay until the storm passes.
